Rationale
Redesigning the Mother Jones homepage helped me realize my interest in digital news UX. I addressed the original site’s lack of hierarchy by replacing its crowded layout with a carousel to feature one story at a time, mimicking the feel of Instagram stories. I simplified the page to better suit mobile users and highlight key content, like the podcast, which I saw as most engaging for the target audience. Design changes like a dark theme and sharper buttons reinforced the outlet’s bold, no-nonsense tone.
